Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed welcomes foreign officials to Abu Dhabi

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed welcomed foreign officials to Abu Dhabi on Monday to discuss strengthening bilateral ties.

The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces met the President of the Cypriot Parliament, Demetris Syllouris, and David Hurley, the Governor-General of Australia.

"Today, I had the pleasure of meeting with a number of heads and members of regional and international parliaments," Sheikh Mohamed wrote on Twitter.

"We exchanged conversations about the common values that unite us for goodness, co-operation and coexistence.

"The UAE since its establishment provides bridges of communication with various peoples of the world and builds its relations with countries on the basis of mutual respect and co-operation."

He also welcomed a delegation of Speakers and members of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, on Monday.

The delegation is visiting the UAE to participate in the celebration of the Federal National Council, FNC, to mark the end of the Year of Tolerance.

Sheikh Mohamed hailed the Year of Tolerance's positive international response, adding that parliaments play a key role in building business of co-existence and understanding between communities.

The delegation praised the UAE's efforts to promote tolerance globally, and its plans for youth and women's empowerment.

The meeting was attended by Saqr Ghobash, FNC Speaker, and Ahmed Al Jarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace.
