Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed meets Eritrean President in Abu Dhabi



Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed received the President of Eritrea, Isaiah Afwerki, on Monday at Qasr Al Bahr.

The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Mr Afwerki spoke of ways to increase ties between both countries to benefit their respective peoples.

They also discussed regional and international developments.

Also on Monday, Sheikh Mohammed met Ismaïl Ould Cheikh Ahmed, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mauritania.

The two discussed bilateral relations and ways to develop co-operation between the two fraternal countries, the state news agency Wam reported.

They also reviewed the latest regional and international developments of mutual interest.

Sheikh Mohamed later met Mohamed Azmin Ali, the Malaysian Minister of Economic Affairs, who is in Abu Dhabi to attend the World Energy Congress.

Sheikh Mohamed and Mr Ali discussed ways to bolster trade and investment between both countries.

They spoke about topics being discussed at the congress that focus on shaping the future of the world's energy industry and its role in global prosperity.

Finally, Sheikh Mohamed met Patrick Pouyanne, chairman of the board and chief executive of Total.

Accompanied by Dr Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State and chief executive of Adnoc Group, Mr Pouyanne and Sheikh Mohamed discussed co-operation opportunities between Total and Emirati specialised companies, institutions and sectors concerned with energy.

Sheikh Suroor bin Mohammed also attended these meetings.

Libya's Gold

UN Panel of Experts found regime secretly sold a fifth of the country's gold reserves. 

The panel’s 2017 report followed a trail to West Africa where large sums of cash and gold were hidden by Abdullah Al Senussi, Qaddafi’s former intelligence chief, in 2011.

Cases filled with cash that was said to amount to $560m in 100 dollar notes, that was kept by a group of Libyans in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.

A second stash was said to have been held in Accra, Ghana, inside boxes at the local offices of an international human rights organisation based in France.
