Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed honoured more than a dozen Emirati officers in Abu Dhabi on Monday for their humanitarian work in the UAE and abroad.

The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces bestowed medals of honour on the officers during a ceremony at Qasr Al Bahr Majlis.

Sheikh Mohamed told them he and the Emirati people were proud of their work, which he said represented the UAE’s values, reported state news agency Wam.

Describing the officers as “the nation’s protective shields”, Sheikh Mohamed granted the Second Class Medal of Honour to Col Dr Aisha Al Dhaheri.

The Third Class Medal of Honour was bestowed upon 13 servicemen and the Fourth Class Medal of Honour was awarded to eight military captains.
