Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed put his national pride on full display by offering up a stylish tribute to UAE Flag Day. The Crown Prince of Dubai captivated his millions of social million followers by posting an eye-catching video honouring the day and two of the driving forces behind the country's success. In a 24-second video shared to his 3.9 million followers on Twitter, rows of flags are seen fluttering on golden sands before the camera pans out to reveal they form the images of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. They say a picture paints a thousand words and it seems to be true of a video too, after the post received a flood of support from social media users. Flag Day is an annual celebration held since 2013 marking the ascension of Sheikh Khalifa as President of the UAE. All corners of the Emirates – from communities and workplaces to schools – come together to fly the flag high and recognise the achievements of Sheikh Khalifa since he came to power 15 years ago. The flag holds a special place in Emirati culture and is a symbol of the country’s unity. Made up of red, green, white and black rectangles, the colours represent courage, honesty, love and hope. It was designed by Abdullah Al Maainah in 1971 after he saw an advertisement for a flag-designing competition in Al Ittihad newspaper.
