The Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia has been part of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix race weekend, according to some posts on social media.

Mohammed bin Salman posed for pictures with racegoers at Yas Marina, who reported that he was an honorary guest at their exclusive event on-board a 72-metre super-yacht as part of the F1 weekend festivities in the capital.

The crown prince’s appearance came after he held successful talks with UAE leaders, as part of a regional tour. He is also expected to visit Bahrain, Egypt and Tunisia, before a planned trip to Argentina to attend the G20 summit at the end of the month.

Among the posts circulating on Instagram was an image of the crown prince in Abu Dhabi alongside Mohammed Khashoggi, the nephew of the murdered Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Mohammed Khashoggi is an entrepreneur who co-founded the company organising the event on a yacht called Serenity, according to his social media profile. The yacht has room to sleep 30 guests, an on-board Jacuzzi and gym.

"Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed Bin Salman @hrhpmsalman passing by surprising us as an honorary guest at our annual @cs_500 event onboard 72m Serenity," Mohammed Khashoggi wrote on Instagram. He later shared a video of news coverage of his meeting with the crown prince.

"The Crown Prince is a dream for our young generation," Mohammed Khashoggi told the Saudi Arabic-language newspaper Okaz after the photo was released.

He described an apparently accidental meeting on Yas Island as wonderful. Prince Mohammed greeted him by saying, “welcome to your second country, the Emirates,” he said.

Hassan Hazzawi, a DJ from Jeddah who is also in the capital for the race and is performing on the luxury yacht, also had his picture taken with the crown prince and shared it on social media.

"Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed Bin Salman @hrhpmsalman passing by surprising us as an honorary guest at The @f1 Abu dubai," Mr Hazzawi wrote on Instagram.
