The Emirates Red Crescent has donated Dh33.85 million towards helping thousands of Sudanese orphans.

The donation is part of the Year of Giving initiative and will support 7,692 orphans in Sudan.

It was delivered by Hamad Al Junaibi, UAE Ambassador to Sudan, in the presence of Osman Jaafar Abdallah, secretary general of the Sudanese Red Crescent Society, and Ahmed Mohamed Adam, commissioner for Sudanese humanitarian aid.

The UAE will continue to deliver assistance to Sudan as part of directives from the UAE leadership and within the framework of the countries’ fraternal ties, said Mr Al Junaibi.

The Red Crescent’s relief efforts in Sudan were praised by Dr Adam.

The Year of Giving was launched under directives from Sheikh Khalifa, the President, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.
