ABU DHABI // The President, Sheikh Khalifa, has instructed the shipment of urgent aid to Sudan as floods ravaging parts of the country leave thousands homeless.
The Khalifa bin Zayed sent urgent relief to Sudan upon the directives of the President and follow-up of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.
The relief included food, tents and pesticides and was sent to help Sudan address the floods that caused serious casualties and damage, reported Wam, the state news agency.
The floods have killed at least 110 people and destroyed more than 14,000 houses since July, according to the UN. More than 161,000 people have been affected.
