ABU DHABI // A new youth award to develop the best and brightest UAE national talent has been launched.

The Mubadala Youth Award will recognise young Emiratis who are driven, ambitious and committed to contributing positively to their community.

“As we look to the next five years of the UAE’s development, a diverse variety of new professional opportunities will emerge, many of which will stem from fields in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM),” said Khaldoon Al Mubarak, Mubadala’s group chief executive and managing director.

“Therefore, it is crucial that we continue to provide compelling learning experiences and inspirational examples that excite young people and galvanise their thinking.”

The recipients of the award will be recognised for their achievements at the fourth annual Mubadala Youth Forum taking place on October 21 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

This year the forum is under the theme “Our Future, Your Ambition” and focuses on providing Emirati students with a better understanding of the job market and the need for more graduates in STEM-related industries.

It will also highlight the type of characteristics and skills recruiters are looking for.

“We are committed to helping young Emiratis realise the important role they will play in their community and the UAE’s future,” said Nadine Saleh Hassan, head of social development and partnerships at Mubadala,

“The Mubadala Youth Award programme is designed to help inspire these young people by showcasing stories of individuals across the UAE who are a true source of pride.”

The Youth Forum will provide a series of workshops to give students practical skills to improve their chances of employment.

They will learn everything from interview techniques to productivity, team work to improving communication to prepare them for a career.

“Our aim is to extend the benefit of the event beyond information and insights to practical tools that will help students succeed in today’s highly-competitive economy,” said Ms Hassan.

Students will also hear from leaders in business, education and other role models from across the country on how best to develop a successful career path.

The Mubadala Youth Forum is open to UAE Nationals between the ages of 17 and 24.

The youth award is open for nominations from community members at www.weyana.ae/en/events/the-mubadala-youth-award.
