ABU DHABI // Emiratis who have fallen in the line of duty shall never be forgotten, the Vice President and Ruler of Dubai said as he paid his condolences to their families.
“Martyrs are the sons of this homeland and the leadership will memorise their names in its history with full pride,” said Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, who on Tuesday visited mourning majlises in Khor Fakkan, Kalba and Al Ain.
“Their sacrifice will be recalled from one generation to the other to be a guide towards pride and dignity of this precious homeland.”
Fifty-four soldiers have died this month taking part in the Saudi-led Operation Restoring Hope, in Yemen.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, accompanied the Ruler as he paid his respects to the families of Saif Issa Obaid Al Naqbi, in Khor Fakkan; Rashid Mohammed Abbas Al Baloushi, Hassan Mohammed Hassan Al Tunaiji and Rashid Nasser Saif Al Zaabi, in Kalba; and Saeed Rashid Mubarak Al Neyadi, in Al Ain.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, also continued his family visits on Tuesday.
Accompanied by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed met with the families of Eisa Ibrahim Hamad Al Badwawi, in Hatta; Rashid Mohammed Abbas Al Baloushi, Hassan Mohammed Hassan Al Tunaiji and Rashid Nasser Saif Al Zaabi, in Kalba; Saif Eisa Obaid Al Naqbi, in Khorfakkan; and Saud Mohammed Saleh Al Saadi.
During his visits, Sheikh Mohammed praised the sacrifices of the servicemen.
Sheikh Saif bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, travelled to Ras Al Khaimah to meet with the families of Suleiman Jassim Al Baloushi; Salem Rashid Al Shehhi; Abdullah Amad Al Shumaili; Rashid Mohammed Al Khanbouli; Sultan Saleh Al Shehhi; and Rashid Ali Al Shehhi.
Accompanying him on the visits was Sheikh Omar bin Zayed, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation.
Officials from other emirates continued paying their respects, with Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, offering condolences to the family of Ghaleb Amer Al Marri, at their mourning tent in Sharjah. Serviceman Al Marri’s body returned home on Monday, at Al Bateen Airport, to full ceremony.
During the visit, Sheikh Abdullah also conveyed the condolences of Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah.
Visits have been ongoing this month, with Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Ruler of Ras Al-Khaimah, visiting the mourning majlises for Ali Hussein Hassan Abdullah Taher Al Baloushi and Saeed Ahmed Obaid Al Marri, both in Dubai.
Sheikh Saud also met with the families of Jamal Majid Salem Al Muhairi and Khalifa Badr Suleiman Johar, in Sharjah, and Fahd Ali Mohammed Ahmed Al Baloushi, in Ajman.
In the meantime, funds for the country’s Yemen: We Care campaign continue to roll in, with the Fujairah Charity Society donating Dh1.2 million.
The campaign was launched by Emirates Red Crescent and aims to help 10 million people in Yemen affected by the conflict. It follows the directives of the President, Sheikh Khalifa, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed.
On Tuesday The National opens an online book of condolence for readers to express their gratitude and grief for the fallen heroes of the conflict in Yemen.
The virtual book is part of section of our website we have dedicated to the brave servicemen who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
The martyr’s microsite is also home to a collection of stories from The National and images that have united the nation in grief since a rocket attacked killed 45 servicemen earlier this month.
