Marriage fund accepts grant requests from more Emiratis

The Marriage Fund has begun accepting grant applications from Emiratis who receive a salary of Dh20,000 to Dh22,000.

So far 200 applications have been received. Habiba Al Hosani, acting director general of the Marriage Fund, told Al Ittihad, the Arabic-language sister newspaper of The National, that the applications will be submitted to the board of directors for approval.

The first batch of grants will be handed out in February. At the next board meeting, the fund will discuss raising the grant cap. Ms Al Hosani said the fund is taking into account the growing standard of living and people’s needs.
