Hotels and restaurants in Dubai will refrain from selling alcohol on Sunday and Monday as the UAE marks the Islamic holiday of Eid Al Adha.
Restrictions will be in place from 6.30pm on Sunday until 7.30pm on Monday, according to a circular issued by Dubai Tourism.
However, licensed bars and restaurants in Abu Dhabi will be allowed to serve as normal, according to managers.
The public sector has been given a week-long break for the Eid Al Adha holiday this year, lasting from Sunday, August 19, to Thursday, August 23.
Employees of ministries and federal departments will resume work on August 26, after the regular Friday-Saturday weekend.
The official holiday for the private sector begins on Monday, and ends on Wednesday, August 22, with employees returning to work on Thursday.
A number of private sector companies have given their employees a longer break during the upcoming Eid Al Adha holiday by tying the days off to the following weekend.

What is graphene?
Graphene is a single layer of carbon atoms arranged like honeycomb.
It was discovered in 2004, when Russian-born Manchester scientists Andrei Geim and Kostya Novoselov were "playing about" with sticky tape and graphite - the material used as "lead" in pencils.
Placing the tape on the graphite and peeling it, they managed to rip off thin flakes of carbon. In the beginning they got flakes consisting of many layers of graphene. But as they repeated the process many times, the flakes got thinner.
By separating the graphite fragments repeatedly, they managed to create flakes that were just one atom thick. Their experiment had led to graphene being isolated for the very first time.
At the time, many believed it was impossible for such thin crystalline materials to be stable. But examined under a microscope, the material remained stable, and when tested was found to have incredible properties.
It is many times times stronger than steel, yet incredibly lightweight and flexible. It is electrically and thermally conductive but also transparent. The world's first 2D material, it is one million times thinner than the diameter of a single human hair.
But the 'sticky tape' method would not work on an industrial scale. Since then, scientists have been working on manufacturing graphene, to make use of its incredible properties.
In 2010, Geim and Novoselov were awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics. Their discovery meant physicists could study a new class of two-dimensional materials with unique properties.
What sanctions would be reimposed?
Under ‘snapback’, measures imposed on Iran by the UN Security Council in six resolutions would be restored, including:

- A ban on uranium enrichment and reprocessing
- A ban on launches and other activities with ballistic missiles capable of delivering nuclear weapons, as well as ballistic missile technology transfer and technical assistance
- A targeted global asset freeze and travel ban on Iranian individuals and entities
