The foundation has been laid for a school in Kazakhstan on the directives of President Sheikh Khalifa.
Kazakh officials and ambassadors from various countries attended the ground-breaking ceremony for the Khalifa bin Zayed School in Astana, the country’s capital, reported the state news agency, Wam.
The school grounds will encompass 37,000 square metres and accommodate 1,200 primary, preparatory and secondary pupils.
The school is part of the UAE’s effort to support education in Kazakhstan, said Ahmed Juma Al Za’abi, Deputy Minister for Presidential Affairs and Deputy Chairman of the Khalifa bin Zayed Foundation.
It was built on the directives of the President and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and the follow-up of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of the Khalifa Foundation.
Mr Al Za’abi said ties with Kazakhstan were growing, particularly in education and health.
Suhail Al Ketbi, UAE Ambassador to Kazakhstan, who also attended, said assistance to Kazakhstan’s people was being well received and the government was keen to implement development projects.
The mayor of Astana said during the ceremony that the UAE was one of the few countries contributing development aid to his country and had gained immense respect from the Kazakh people.
