ABU DHABI // Costs of food and other supermarket items will be reduced during the holy month.
The price list, issued by Abu Dhabi Municipality and adopted last week, affects 87 items incuding food, drink and tissues.
Prices for rice, oil, coffee and tissues were each reduced by roughly 20 per cent, reported Aletihad, the Arabic-language sister newspaper of The National.
In April, the Ministry of Economy said the price of basic food items at supermarkets would fall by up to 50 per cent during Ramadan.
Dr Hashim Al Nuaimi, director of the ministry’s consumer protection department, said prices would drop by between 20 and 50 per cent, and no price increase requests would be considered until after the holy month.
