FNC remains mum on recent human rights report criticising UAE

The FNC will not issue a statement condemning a recent Human Rights Watch report that criticised the UAE.

Ahmed Al Zaabi (Sharjah) asked the council to issue an official statement, but Dr Amal Al Qubaisi, the council’s deputy speaker who led Tuesday’s session in Mohammed Al Mur’s absence, said the Government had decided not to respond.

Dr Al Qubaisi asked whether the FNC wanted to respond differently, but the members collectively agreed not to.
