DUBAI // Economic relations and cooperation in air transport and tourism were discussed on Thursday by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, and the Philippines’ vice-president.
During the meeting with Jejomar Binay, Sheikh Mohammed stressed the importance of further developing ties between the countries. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, also attended the meeting.
Mr Binay thanked Sheikh Mohammed for the care and attention the Filipino community received in the UAE. Filipinos who live and work in the country were enjoying full rights in various fields, said Mr Binay.
He described the UAE-Philippines relations as "warm and cordial" and hoped talks would boost UAE investment in his country.
“Sheikh Mohammed said he had a very high regard for Filipinos living in the UAE and thanked them for their contribution to society,” said Constancio Vingno Jr, ambassador to the UAE.
“The Crown Prince also expressed strong interest in visiting the Philippines.”
Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, welcomed Mr Binay and his delegation at Al Mamoura on Tuesday.
Other sheikhs and officials also attended Thursday’s meeting between Sheikh Mohammed and Mr Binay.
Talks centred on the UAE's labour reforms, a status update on a bilateral agreement on the recruitment and employment of skilled workers, and the resumption of the verification of maids' contracts.
