Nearly 200 Yemeni students will have newly renovated dormitories as part of an initiative from Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Mother of the Nation.
The Emirates Red Crescent project will serve 190 students in boarding schools in Shabwa governorate, located in southern Yemen.
Shabwa’s governor, Abdullah Al Nisi, and other officials attended a ceremony yesterday to launch the programme, reported Wam, the state news agency.
Mr Al Nisi praised the initiatives of Sheikha Fatima, the honorary president of the ERC, and said the project would improve students’ academic performance and help restore normalcy there. The project also involves new furniture, water tanks and a fully equipped computer lab. Seven of 15 projects ordered by Sheikha Fatima have been completed in Yemen, the ERC said.
