DUBAI // The higher committee of the UAE Initiative for Connection with Orphans and Minors has called on people and families to take part in a campaign launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai.

Sheikh Mohammed appealed for community participation in building an Emirati model for caring for disadvantaged young people.

Emiratis and their families can sign up at the Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation, at www.amaf.gov.ae.

“We have become accustomed to the attention and support given by Sheikh Mohammed to all the categories of society,” said Mohammed Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and chairman of the higher committee.

“The initiative is yet another step in this direction.

“Through it, we will work on building an Emirati model in caring for orphans and minors.”

He said the committee was establishing a database of volunteers as well as partnerships with authorities, groups and individuals.

This continues Sheikh Mohammed’s tradition of launching works during Ramadan, and seeks to fulfil the needs of beneficiaries in terms of family ties and friendship, as well as the need for appreciation, including self-esteem.
