Dubai ruler orders aid relief

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, has instructed the Dubai International Humanitarian City and the aid agencies in it to mobilise relief for thousands of families who have been displaced because of Cyclone Pam, in line with President Sheikh Khalifa’s directives.

A special 747 Boeing airlift took off from the Royal Wing in Dubai on Thursday carrying 80 metric tones of aid. It will be among the first to reach the area and includes electric generators, blankets, tents ad other relief materials.
