Dubai Police organise tolerance campaign for schools

DUBAI // Dubai Police is organising a campaign to promote tolerance following cases of Dubai pupils insulting each other’s family backgrounds and social status.

The Tolerance, Happiness and Safety drive was announced on Sunday and is organised by the Dubai Police security awareness department in collaboration with the Juveniles Awareness and Care Association.

Col Jassim Mirza, director of the department, said some schools have seen altercations in which pupils exchange insults about family history and backgrounds or religion, ethnicity and skin colour.

The campaign will have two phases: one on social media inviting the public to post videos and awareness messages, and one involving lectures and other events at Dubai schools.

The campaign is held under the patronage of Lt Gen Dhahi Khalfan, deputy chairman of police and general security in Dubai, and chairman of the juveniles association.
