ABU DHABI // Eleven establishments have been fined by the Ministry of Labour for infringing the midday break rules for outdoor work.
The ministry inspected 10,430 establishments since the rule came into force on June 15.
It states that labourers must be given time off between 12.30pm and 3pm until September 15.
Maher Al Oweid, assistant to the undersecretary for the inspection of private sector establishments, praised the 10,419 companies that obeyed the rules.
He said that the inspection campaign shows the importance of the decision and its role in keeping workers safe, particularly while working under the sun and outdoors.
Inspection campaigns carried out throughout the UAE included 1,544 inspection visits in Abu Dhabi, 985 in Al Ain, 1,983 in Dubai, 1,361 in Sharjah, 1,068 in Ajman, 1,369 in Ras Al Khaimah, 1,381 in Umm Al Quwain and 728 in Fujairah.
