ABU DHABI // Ten initiatives being rolled out across the country by Al Bayt Mitwahid Association aim at community needs and strengthening national ties.
The 10-day Journey of the Union: Overview of the Accomplishments from Past to Future, will promote national unity, solidarity and raise awareness of the UAE’s history and develop an understanding of the Government’s vision, while the national Building Bridges initiative will take participants to special-needs centres, homes for the elderly and hospitals in the UAE.
The programmes include: in Dubai, Private Sector Ambassadors will offer students internships with private companies; in Sharjah, the Social Innovation Contest will encourage participants to develop solutions to challenges facing the emirate; the Ajman Walk includes development of a walkway with a designated cycling track to promote an active and healthy lifestyle; the Little Thinker project in Ras Al Khaimah aims to develop the problem-solving and teamwork skills of elementary school pupils; in UAQ, the Go Health programme will promote healthy nutrition and physical activity..
The Bright Start initiative in Fujairah will equip delinquents with new skills while Home of Hope will engage with children at the cancer centre in Tawam Hospital in Al Ain.

How to apply for a drone permit
- Individuals must register on UAE Drone app or website using their UAE Pass
- Add all their personal details, including name, nationality, passport number, Emiratis ID, email and phone number
- Upload the training certificate from a centre accredited by the GCAA
- Submit their request

- Fly it within visual line of sight
- Never over populated areas
- Ensure maximum flying height of 400 feet (122 metres) above ground level is not crossed
- Users must avoid flying over restricted areas listed on the UAE Drone app
- Only fly the drone during the day, and never at night
- Should have a live feed of the drone flight
- Drones must weigh 5 kg or less
