ABU DHABI // Abu Dhabi Municipality is offering guidance to watchmen and shopkeepers as part of a campaign to eliminate unlicensed adverts.
The unlicensed posters mar the city’s appearance and pollute the environment, and are spread across the city’s streets, public utilities, lamp posts and bus stops, the municipality said.
Unlicensed advertisers can face fines of Dh1,000, which must be paid within 30 days from the date of issuance. Advertisers who do not pay could be referred to the public prosecution.
The municipality campaign explained advertising laws and licensing procedures.
Officials called on the community to adhere to rules of signboard installation and to obtain necessary permits.
