Google has joined millions of people across the UAE in celebrating the country's 48th National Day with a dedicated doodle.
The image, on the search giant's homepage, features a UAE flag sitting on top of a green banner.
Google frequently uses its doodles to celebrate people, countries, anniversaries and events. It created its first back in July 2000 to celebrate United States’ Independence Day, and has since designed thousands more.
UAE National Day has been marked by a dedicated doodle every December 2nd since 2008.
Previous National Day doodles have featured images of fort Qasr Al Hosn, falcons, and even the ancient tombs of Umm Al Nar, a small island off the coast of Abu Dhabi which hosts an oil refinery.
In 2013, Google also created a doodle to celebrate Dubai’s victory in its bid to host the World Expo next year.
Ideas for new doodles are generated both internally and by users, and each one is created by a dedicated team of illustrators and engineers based in the US. Suggestions can be submitted to proposals@google.com.

How the bonus system works
The two riders are among several riders in the UAE to receive the top payment of £10,000 under the Thank You Fund of £16 million (Dh80m), which was announced in conjunction with Deliveroo's £8 billion (Dh40bn) stock market listing earlier this year.
The £10,000 (Dh50,000) payment is made to those riders who have completed the highest number of orders in each market.
There are also riders who will receive payments of £1,000 (Dh5,000) and £500 (Dh2,500).
All riders who have worked with Deliveroo for at least one year and completed 2,000 orders will receive £200 (Dh1,000), the company said when it announced the scheme.
