Forty students have enrolled in the veterinary medicine programme at the UAE University. The programme is the first of its kind in the UAE.

The deputy dean of the Faculty of Food and Agriculture, Dr Ayesha Bochleba, said the faculty had finished setting up veterinary medicine labs.

Female students who joined the programme told Al Ittihad, the Arabic-language sister paper of The National, they consider their line of specialisation a service to the country, especially that there will be a promising future for veterinary medicine in the UAE.
