Marketplace, The National's new classifieds section, will launch on September 1.

ABU DHABI // Looking for a new home? Want to buy a second-hand car? Keen to get a new job? The National can help.

We are launching a classifieds section, Marketplace, offering listings of everything from properties for rent to pets needing owners.

Running five days a week, Sunday through Thursday, the supplement comes in response to surveys and reader focus groups highlighting the demand for such a feature.

"We make a point of listening to our readers. We continuously try to understand which content they are connecting with and what we can do to improve. Classifieds will provide a public service that we know addresses the needs of our readers," said Laura Koot, The National's managing editor.

The National has partnered with Al Dalil, an advertisement firm that has been producing classifieds for our Arabic-language sister paper, Al Ittihad, since 2005.

Marketplace will feature seven categories: properties, jobs, motoring, technology, pets, home & garden and leisure & lifestyle.

"The UAE is a market that relies heavily on resale. We hope Marketplace quickly becomes an essential listing for anyone looking to buy or sell in the country," Ms Koot said.

All listings will be free until September 30 as an introductory promotion.
