ABU DHABI // Seek closeness to Allah in the month of good deeds and charity, worshippers will be told on Friday.

“Whoever did a lot of good in it, Allah will award him for it, and increase his blessings and forgiveness and pardoning,” the sermon reads.

A hadith by the Prophet Mohammed says that whoever commits a good deed is rewarded by its value times 10, and whoever commits a sin is punished by its equal, or is forgiven.

“And one of the best things a person can do to get close to Allah is by doing good to his brother the human, so he spends effort to do his errands and helps him if he seeks his help,” the sermon reads.

Another hadith by Prophet Mohammed says: “Among the people are those who are keys to goodness and locks to evil. And from among the people are those who are keys to evil and locks to goodness.

“So glad tidings to the one who Allah puts the key to goodness in his hands, and destruction to the one who Allah puts the key to evil in his hands.”

Integrating charity work and aid and volunteering in society ensures a stable, secure life for all.

A verse from the Quran says: “Whosoever doeth right, whether male or female, and is a believer, him verily we shall quicken with good life and we shall pay them a recompense in proportion to the best of what they used to do.”
