Four killed and three hurt after road crash in Ras Al Khaimah
Two children aged 10 were among the fatalities after car overturned on road
Four young people aged between 10 and 18 were killed and three others injured after a horror crash in Ras Al Khaimah on Friday evening.
Emergency services were called into action after a car overturned when one of its tyres burst on Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road shortly before 7pm.
Seven people, six Emiratis and one Asian, were travelling in the vehicle when the accident took place.
Two men aged 18 and two 10-year-old boys died at the scene.
Two children aged 13 and a 20-year-old man were injured in the crash and were taken to Sheikh Khalifa Specialty Hospital for treatment.
Lt Col Mohammad Al Bahir, head of Investigation and Traffic Control Department of at RAK Police, said that initial investigations showed that the high speed the vehicle was travelling at, coupled with the explosion of one of the tyres, caused the accident.
The case has been passed on to prosecutors for further investigation.
Police urged motorists to abide by traffic rules and regulations, avoid speeding and carry out regular checks on the condition of tyres.
