SHARJAH // Four people were killed in separate accidents in Sharjah over the weekend.
An 82-year-old Swiss national drowned in the sea off Al Khan on Friday. Rescue teams retrieved the body and the death is being investigated.
A 25-year-old Omani died in a collision between a car and a lorry in Al Madam Road. His compatriot, 23, travelling in the same car, suffered severe injuries. The injured man is still receiving hospital treatment.
In a third incident, a 40-year-old Indian died after falling from a building under construction in the Industrial Zone 13. The case file was referred to the police in the industrial zone to identify the cause of the accident.
In a fourth incident, a 30-year-old Pakistani died from his injuries in Al Dhaid Hospital after his car crashed in Al Maliha Road. The cause of the accident was described by police as excessive speed and inattention.
In Dubai, 10 people were injured in a road accident on Sheikh Zayed Road on Thursday evening, the emirate’s police said.
Three cars crashed into one another after one of the drivers swerved suddenly on the road from the World Trade Centre tunnel to Al Maktoum Bridge at about 9.45pm. Ten people were injured.
On Saturday, a vehicle flipped on Al Khail Road from Al Midan Bridge to Ras Al Khor Bridge at around 2.50pm. No injuries were reported.
On Sunday, a vehicle overturned on Sheikh Zayed Road from Al Manara Bridge to Al Safa Bridge. Two vehicles crashed into one another, which caused one of them to flip over. The incident took place at about 3pm. No injuries were reported.
