DUBAI // A flight attendant has been jailed for four years after being found guilty of bringing crystal meth and hashish into the country.

Prosecutors said on February 19 customs officers searched Brazilian J M’s luggage and found drug paraphernalia.

“I found a device that is commonly used to slice and grind drugs, with a dark substance inside it, then I found a plastic bag containing a white substance,” said customs officer S D, 24.

She turned the 30-year-old flight attendant over to police who searched his home in Dubai and found several types of drugs.

“He had stashed hashish, methamphetamine and several types of prescription-based drugs at his house,” an officer told Dubai Criminal Court.

In an earlier session, J M pleaded guilty to charges of importing drugs with the intent to consume and consumption of drugs. He said that he had taken the drugs outside the UAE.

J M will be deported after completing his sentence.
