Five killed in early morning crash in Dubai

DUBAI // Five people were killed and four others injured when a bus crashed into a lorry early on Sunday.

The collision occurred on the Al Rabbat — Al Garhoud Road when a bus transporting 20 workers hit a lorry, police said.

Four workers died in the accident while the fifth succumbed to injuries at Rashid Hospital, said Brigadier General Saeed Hamad bin Sulaiman Al Malek, director of Al Rashidiya police station.

Rescue teams were dispatched after police received information about the crash at 5am and hydraulic equipment was used to remove people trapped inside the bus, he said.

Four passengers are receiving treatment in hospital.

Police have urged motorists to observe traffic regulations and signal clearly when changing lanes.
