ABU DHABI // A fire was reported at Masdar City in Abu Dhabi on Monday morning, with a plume of smoke that was visible from the Abu Dhabi-Dubai motorway.
The fire broke out around 9am, according to a Masdar City employee.
The first fire engine arrived from Abu Dhabi International Airport at 9.35am, with four others arriving minutes later.
The fire was brought under control by 10am.
Jarret Adams, director of APCO Worldwide, the PR company who works with Masdar, confirmed the fire occured in Masdar this morning.
“The fire, which originated in a heat exchanger linked to Masdar Institute’s pilot Beam Down Project, was quickly extinguished by firefighters from Abu Dhabi Airport and the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence, and no injuries were caused,” he said.
The Beam Down project was not damaged by the fire and investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing, according to Mr Adams.
