AJMAN // A fire broke out in a tent outside a house in Mushrif.
The fire was extinguished by civil defence crews who were called to the site on Saturday night.
There were no casualties and the cause of the blaze is still under investigation, said Major Khalid Al Shamsi, head of Strategic Plans Section at Ajman Civil Defence.
Maj Al Shamsi urged people who own tents to maintain fire safety standards at all times, to always have a fire extinguisher on hand and avoid placing heat-producing equipment inside tents.
“The internal electrical lighting lamps must be far away from the tent fabric by at least 50 centimetres and electrical wires should be within protected pipes.
“The furniture in the tent should be made from materials that slow down the spread of fire or be flame resistant,” Maj Al Shamsi said.
