ABU DHABI // The roller coaster cars are in position on the tracks at Ferrari World as construction of the world's largest indoor theme park nears its final lap.
With two months to go until the October 28 grand opening on Yas Island, the atmosphere inside the 20,000-square metre grounds, still under wraps from the public, is beginning to resemble the designers' vision.
"We're very excited about the progress of Ferrari World Abu Dhabi and we can't wait to welcome our first guests," Andy Keeling, the park's manager, said. "The look and feel of the park continues to come together and many rides are now being fully tested."
Painting, as well as theatrical and lighting elements, would transform the atmosphere of the worksite once it was all installed, Mr Keeling said.
Among more than 20 attractions will be the white-knuckle Formula Rossa roller coaster, capable of hurtling along the 2.07km track from nought to 240kph in about four seconds. It is believed the Formula One-themed ride will be the fastest roller coaster in the world.
The Formula Rossa will be one of the park's marquee attractions, along with the GT Experience, which is meant to simulate a drag race between two Ferrari F430 Spiders. A 62-metre drop tower should prove another draw for thrill seekers.
Claus Frimand, the general manager of Ferrari World, described the tower attraction as a "true experience" ride, and promised that it would offer "the same G-forces that race drivers experience during a race".
Aside from high-speed rides, Ferrari World also promises to offer family-friendly attractions.
Bell'Italia is a miniature replica of the Italian countryside and can be toured in a miniature 1957 250 California Spider, which moves along a track. The sights include scale versions of famous landmarks, including the Colosseum and the Tower of Pisa. Children will be able to attend a junior driving school to learn about road safety, and can then climb into a miniature Spider for a controlled cruise around the park.
Petrolheads will likely make haste to the The Made in Maranello tour, which will show the intricate work that goes into assembling a Ferrari.

Juvenile arthritis
Along with doctors, families and teachers can help pick up cases of arthritis in children.
Most types of childhood arthritis are known as juvenile idiopathic arthritis. JIA causes pain and inflammation in one or more joints for at least six weeks.
Dr Betina Rogalski said "The younger the child the more difficult it into pick up the symptoms. If the child is small, it may just be a bit grumpy or pull its leg a way or not feel like walking,” she said.
According to The National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases in US, the most common symptoms of juvenile arthritis are joint swelling, pain, and stiffness that doesn’t go away. Usually it affects the knees, hands, and feet, and it’s worse in the morning or after a nap.
Limping in the morning because of a stiff knee, excessive clumsiness, having a high fever and skin rash are other symptoms. Children may also have swelling in lymph nodes in the neck and other parts of the body.
Arthritis in children can cause eye inflammation and growth problems and can cause bones and joints to grow unevenly.
In the UK, about 15,000 children and young people are affected by arthritis.

Farage on Muslim Brotherhood
Nigel Farage told Reform's annual conference that the party will proscribe the Muslim Brotherhood if he becomes Prime Minister.
"We will stop dangerous organisations with links to terrorism operating in our country," he said. "Quite why we've been so gutless about this – both Labour and Conservative – I don't know.
“All across the Middle East, countries have banned and proscribed the Muslim Brotherhood as a dangerous organisation. We will do the very same.”
It is 10 years since a ground-breaking report into the Muslim Brotherhood by Sir John Jenkins.
Among the former diplomat's findings was an assessment that “the use of extreme violence in the pursuit of the perfect Islamic society” has “never been institutionally disowned” by the movement.

Ziina users can donate to relief efforts in Beirut
Ziina users will be able to use the app to help relief efforts in Beirut, which has been left reeling after an August blast caused an estimated $15 billion in damage and left thousands homeless. Ziina has partnered with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees to raise money for the Lebanese capital, co-founder Faisal Toukan says. “As of October 1, the UNHCR has the first certified badge on Ziina and is automatically part of user's top friends' list during this campaign. Users can now donate any amount to the Beirut relief with two clicks. The money raised will go towards rebuilding houses for the families that were impacted by the explosion.”
Fireball
Moscow claimed it hit the largest military fuel storage facility in Ukraine, triggering a huge fireball at the site.
A plume of black smoke rose from a fuel storage facility in the village of Kalynivka outside Kyiv on Friday after Russia said it had destroyed the military site with Kalibr cruise missiles.
"On the evening of March 24, Kalibr high-precision sea-based cruise missiles attacked a fuel base in the village of Kalynivka near Kyiv," the Russian defence ministry said in a statement.
Ukraine confirmed the strike, saying the village some 40 kilometres south-west of Kyiv was targeted.
