AJMAN// The family of a policeman allegedly killed by a colleague at a Dubai police station on Sunday are still in shock at the incident, according to friends.

Police said the victim, a warehouse guard, identified as A A, 50, from Yemen, was shot at Al Rafaa station by his 25-year-old compatriot N A, a sergeant, after the two got into a heated argument.

Friends of the victim, who lived in Al Nuaimia in Ajman and had worked for Dubai Police for 30 years, said he had recently brought his family from Yemen to live with him in the UAE.

A Yemeni woman connected to A A’s family said his wife and children came from Yemen just two weeks ago. They are waiting for the body to be released by authorities at Rashid Hospital.

A A’s brother has arrived in Dubai from Bahrain and started procedures in order to take the body. Other members of the family are expected to arrive within a day or two to take part in the funeral.

The two officers had personal differences and had argued while on duty, said Maj Gen Khamis Al Muzeina, chief of Dubai police.

“An argument erupted between the two in relation to some personal issues while they were receiving their weapons as they just started duties,” said Gen Al Muzeina.

Gen Al Muzeina denied reports that the killing, which happened at the station in Bur Dubai at around noon, was politically motivated.
