DUBAI // Three men convicted of posing as police officers and assaulting and robbing two siblings in their home, must see out their three-year jail terms, the Court of Appeal has ruled.

Pakistanis A A, 30, and S K, 30, and Indian J T, 23, were convicted by Dubai Criminal Court in December last year for impersonating CID officers, robbery, assault and trespassing. A fourth man, W S, 26, from Pakistan, remains at large.

At the previous hearing, the court heard how at 10.30pm on January 5 last year the four men visited the home of Pakistani salesman A S, 30, in Al Muraqqabat, Deira, where he lives with his sister.

“As I opened the door I received a slap on my face and four men barged their way into the flat, then one of them grabbed a chain from my neck before they tied my hands with a plastic rope,” said A S’s 30-year-old sister, A M

A S was also attacked by the men, who claimed that they were from Dubai Police.

“They showed me some identification cards then tied my hands and legs before they started kicking me,” said A S, who also claimed that the gang stole Dh15,000 in cash and three mobile phones before running off.

A A, S K and J T will be deported once they complete their sentences.
