Thirty-six wells in Fujairah have been filled and sealed as part of a wider plan to close up 107 unused wells.
“For the next phase, we will work on sealing 71 more [wells] located in active crushers and quarries in the emirate,” said Fatima Sharar, head of the environment protection department at Fujairah Municipality.
The unused wells were found by the department during an inspection of 230 wells located in industrial and mining operations and outside properties.
