UAE weather: UAE residents wake to thickest fog yet in February's run of gloomy weather

UAE residents woke on Tuesday to the heaviest fog many have experienced yet during February's stretch of early morning bad weather.

The murky weather affected most parts of the country, sparing only the northern parts of the country and some areas in the south.

Police warned drivers not to exceed 80 kilometres per hour on several major roads, as visibility fell below 1,000 metres.

Fog has blanketed the UAE on most mornings in February because of high overnight humidity.

The weather is, however, typical for this time of the year.

Fog season runs from mid-December until the end of March, aided by calm winds and a clear atmosphere. These are more common at this time of the year as the seasons change.

Tuesday's fog is expected to ease off by 11am, leaving a fair to partly cloudy day, with temperatures reaching 27°C on the coast and up to 31°C inland.

Winds will be north-easterly to south-easterly and light to moderate.

The sea will be slight in the Arabian Gulf and in Oman sea.

The weather will be humid by night and into Wednesday morning with a chance of fog and mist forming over some areas.

But Wednesday is predicted to be the last day of the fog for the foreseeable future.
