Rain fell in Dubai and parts of the Northern Emirates on Tuesday, with further stormy conditions expected for the rest of the day and into Wednesday.
The UAE's National Centre of Meteorology issued a "red alert" in Dubai, Sharjah, Umm Al Quwain and Ras Al Khaimah, warning residents to take care.
"Be extremely vigilant: Hazardous weather events of exceptional severity are forecast," Weather forecasters warned.
The warning is in place until 11pm on Tuesday.
Other parts of the Northern Emirates are told to be prepared for worsening conditions. Abu Dhabi residents are advised to "be aware".
Earlier the forecasters said dust storms were likely. Temperatures could reach 27°C in Abu Dhabi and 25°C in Dubai, the NCM said.
The NCM also warns of rough seas.
It will be rough in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, until around 3.30pm, before calming down.
The rain is expected to continue until Thursday.
The UAE was battered by heavy rain and strong winds on Saturday night, causing hazardous conditions for motorists on Sunday morning. The Northern Emirates were worst hit.
