Parts of the UAE have been hit with heavy rainfall and hailstorms this afternoon.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has tweeted footage of rain falling in Maleha and Al Fili in Sharjah.

In one video, a train of camels is seen being drenched by heavy rain and hail, while others show vehicles travelling on roads in treacherous conditions.

Later the UAE centre posted footage of a dust devil churning through the desert.

An alert about the weather is in place until 8pm.

The NCM website issued a warning earlier this afternoon about “rainfall and fresh winds reaching 45 km/h reducing visibility from 15.30 until 20.00”.
