UAE weather: more thunder, rain and sandstorms on the way

  • Arabic

More bad weather is on the way on Wednesday as the unsettled patch continues.

The National Centre of Meteorology cautioned that thunder, rain and north-westerly winds of up to 60kph could hit parts of the country during the day.

Motorists have also been warned that sand and dust storms could cut visibility and make conditions on roads hazardous.

Rain hit many parts of the country overnight including in Sharjah, Jebel Ali, Umm Al Quwain and Ras Al Khaimah.

More is forecast during the day but temperatures are expected to come down from the highs experienced over the past few days.

Temperatures could hit highs of 31°C, while it could sink as low as 8°C in the mountains.

Conditions are also set to be very rough in the Arabian Sea with the north-westerly winds churning up the water for some weeks now.

The unsettled weather is expected last until the weekend. Strong north-westerly winds are forecast until at least Saturday, so residents must be prepared for more dust and sandstorms for the next few days.
