ABU DHABI // Dust clouds are forecast across much of the country this weekend with forecasters warning against low visibility.
The National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology on Friday urged motorists to be cautious, drive slowly and leave enough distance between vehicles due to decreased visibility caused by strong winds blowing dust.
“NCMS confirms warning against scattered convective clouds associated at times with strong winds, causing blowing dust and sand or rain with poor visibility of less than 2,000 metres,” the centre said.
The Ministry of Interior has also urged motorists to drive carefully, reduce speed and keep a safe distance while driving.
In cases of low visibility, motorists should park their cars on the right shoulder of the road and turn on their hazard lights to ensure their safety.
The ministry also urged motorists not to park their vehicles under trees, signboards and construction sites for their own safety.
The UAE will continue to experience high temperatures and humidity for the rest of the weekend.
The weather will be hot to very hot, ranging from 45°C to 49°C internally and 42°C to 47°C along the coast. The mercury will drop a little in the mountains with temperatures between 33°C and 37°C expected.
Relative humidity is forecast to reach a maximum of 85 per cent over the coast and 60 over internal areas.
The sea will be slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
Similar conditions are expected over the next two days.
