Weather conditions in Dubai on Saturday will be hot and mostly sunny with a moderate breeze.

Temperatures are due to peak at 43°C shortly before midday, accompanied by winds of up to 23kph.

The forecast for Abu Dhabi promises a similar day of clear skies and light breezes.

Temperatures are predicted to be slightly hotter, reaching 44°C in the early afternoon, with lighter winds of around 19kph.

The National Centre of Meteorology is predicting hot and dusty conditions for the UAE in general, and said winds could pick up sand at times.

Some clouds could form over southern areas, it said.

Night time temperatures could drop to around 35°C in Dubai and Abu Dhabi over the course of Saturday night and the early hours of Sunday morning.

The burning issue

The internal combustion engine is facing a watershed moment – major manufacturer Volvo is to stop producing petroleum-powered vehicles by 2021 and countries in Europe, including the UK, have vowed to ban their sale before 2040. The National takes a look at the story of one of the most successful technologies of the last 100 years and how it has impacted life in the UAE.
