UAE weather: Dubai and Abu Dhabi due a rainy Monday

The UAE is set for a rainy Monday, after showers were reported overnight and forecasters warned of possible flash flooding across the country this week.

The rain is expected to fall over islands, coastal areas, as well as in the north and east of the UAE.

Light rain fell on Al Dhafra and Abu Dhabi Island last night.

Wind speeds may reach up to 45 kilometres per hour by the coast and on mountains on Monday, the National Centre of Meteorology said. The weather bureau said sandstorms are expected in some parts of the country.

Temperatures could reach 28°C in Abu Dhabi and 26°C in Dubai, the NCM said.

It will be moderate to rough in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.

The downpour is set to continue through most of this week.
