UAE weather: Clouds, high humidity and sizzling heat in store for Eid

Partly cloudy skies are expected to continue, increasing in some areas, with the possibility of towering clouds gathering over the eastern region, near the mountains.

ABU DHABI // Sticky nights and sizzling though cloudy days are in store for the Eid Al Fitr holiday, according to the weather bureau.

Temperatures will reach a high of up to 42°C on the coast, 47°C in the interior and 35°C in the mountains, while the lows are expected to dip to 29°C, 26°C and 25°C, respectively. And the humidity will rise.

“It’s high,” Ahmed Habib, of the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology, said of the oppressive humidity felt throughout the country. “It will increase at night and early in the morning.”

Partly cloudy skies are expected to continue, increasing in some areas, with the possibility of towering clouds gathering over the eastern region, near the mountains.

The cloud cover is sweeping in from the east coast, Mr Habib said, and is expected to hang over most of the country throughout today.

A fresh northerly and northwesterly wind is expected to sweep in today and tomorrow, especially over the western areas. Mr Habib warned boaters to exercise caution if venturing out into the Arabian Sea today.

Abu Dhabi, Dubai and other cities along the western coast will begin to feel some relief from the muggy weather from tomorrow, but Mr Habib said: “In the north and the east, humidity will still be high.”
