DUBAI // The Emirates Green Development Council announced 96 initiatives related water and energy management programmes and other environmental issues.

The initiatives are expected to be implemented over the coming three months, said Dr Rashid bin Fahad, Minister of Environment and Water. They include green industry development, energy-producing accommodation projects, legislation on management and disposal of certain materials, water and energy management strategies, and programmes encouraging sustainable transport.

Dr bin Fahad said the council’s strategy is based on a modern approach represented by a switch to a green economy and reduction of carbon-dioxide emissions.

The announcement came during the third meeting of the council, held by the Ministry of Environment and Water in Dubai on Wednesday, reported Al Ittihad, the Arabic-language sister newspaper of The National.
