‘No, the UAE cannot predict earthquakes,’ says NCMS

Reports that the UAE is close to reaching the ability to predict earthquakes before they happen are unfounded, said the National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS).

The agency said it monitors seismic activity as it happens, adding there is no available method to predict earthquakes before they hit.

The NCMS urged people to ignore such reports, saying the agency was the country’s only official source of information about earthquakes and weather.
