Family rescued from burning flat in Kalba

Civil defence teams from Kalba and Fujairah tackled the blaze in the five-story apartment building at 9pm.

SHARJAH // A family were rescued from their burning apartment on Friday night in the eastern region of Sharjah.

Civil defence teams from Kalba and Fujairah tackled the blaze in the five-storey apartment building at 9pm.

Lt Col Sami Al Naqabi, Director General of Sharjah Civil Defence, said crews tackled the blaze and were able to rescue the family without any injuries.

According to civil defence, the fire started in a top floor apartment.

There were no casualties, said Lt Col Al Naqbi.

The apartment building was handed over to forensic teams to determine the cause of the fire.
