Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) launched the “App Master” competition for university students, challenging them to develop an application that raises environmental awareness among children.
The app will be used to promote a culture of energy and water conservation in an entertaining way. “It encourages individuals to adopt a sustainable lifestyle by consolidating the concept of rational use of energy and water,” said Saeed Al Tayer, managing director and chief executive of Dewa.
The authority will honour the top five winners at a ceremony in June.
The first-place winner will be awarded Dh50,000 and a job interview at Dewa. The second and third place winners will receive Dh30,000 and Dh20,000, respectively.
