Emiratis have been urged by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to avoid wearing expensive clothes and brands when travelling abroad to avoid drawing unwelcome attention to themselves.

The ministry advised citizens who are planning on going overseas to keep copies of their passports and identification handy in self-addressed emails or on mobile phones so they can be produced in case of an emergency.

The ministry also called on travellers to register with the Tawajedi services (My Whereabouts) through the website www.mofa.gov.ae or smartphone application UAEMOFA.

Rashid Ali Al Dhaheri, the ministry’s director of nationals’ affairs, emphasised the need for citizens to regularly review travel updates and advisories available on the ministry’s website. He said Emiratis can call +971 600599991 in case of emergency when abroad.
