Emirati woman in RAK ‘in stable condition’ after being shot by husband

The woman, who was in her forties, was shot at her home in Ras Al Khaimah, according to police in the emirate.

RAS AL KHAIMAH // An Emirati woman was shot by her husband at their home in Ras Al Khaimah on Saturday.

The woman sustained multiple injuries but is in stable condition, RAK Police said. The husband and wife are both Emiratis in their forties.

Police had received on Saturday evening a report of a gunshot heard at a house in one of the areas in RAK, said Lt Gen Ali Al Nuaimi, commander-in-chief of RAK Police. Police did not specify which area.

The husband turned himself in to police immediately, said Lt Gen Al Nuaimi.

The woman received the necessary first aid and medical care as she was being taken to hospital, and medical sources confirmed that her condition is stable, he said.

Legal procedures are under way to identify a motive, said Lt Gen Al Nuaimi.
